Released last Friday (29th Jan) Iceberg is the debut album from Stillhead on Here and Now Recordings. A nicely chilled deep and ‘dubby’ sound with an almost cinematic approach. The title being apt for the chilled feel to the music but the project is meant to reflect a Nordic influence. With Danish electronic acts like Lulu Rouge, Trentemøller, Mike Sheridan and Icelandic Tonik Ensemble and Kura being a great source of inspiration.

Stillhead – Iceberg

This may be a full length release from Stillhead but what first grabbed my attention was an EP under the label Brightest Dark Place called ‘Dwelling EP‘. Stillhead is no stranger to producing music, having several releases as DFRNT and running his own label Cut (see previous post) Everything within each piece shows the years of experience. The sheer attention to detail but still keeping a natural or organic quality in the electronic music being made. Making it seem easy to skip from some chilled dub-techno to some slightly weightier drum ‘n’ bass…

Pounds of Gold ft. Zoe Elling – Iceberg

With music released under DFRNT, Stillhead, Hero hero, AGC Esquire, Arron Shallow and Blind Mice, Alex Cowles also runs the labels Brightest Dark Place and Cut Records, hosts the Insight Podcast and has 2 blogs, Sitting Ovation and a course on How to self release music. Having gotten some great reviews already, this is one to check out folks!
